This is something of a departure from what The Motley Guy is accustomed to. I have allowed my office to be overtaken by a paint booth, a messy ordeal and allowable only because of the education this project affords (new things are so much fun!).
There is a 1988 AM General Humvee in my garage, and “Gracie” is an former 1 1/4 ton M998 cargo & people mover formerly owned by the U.S. Army and now in my custody/ownership for a few years. She’s taken a bit of a beat down over the years, so I ushered her into my garage for an interior & exterior paint re-coating, featuring a 33446 “686” C.A.R.C Tan substitute, applied via HVLP spray with several rattle cans along the way, and many restorations to boot.
This project is an active WIP! There is so much involved in terms of products being used, time being wagered, money being spent and lessons being learned. I have much to share, so please stay tuned for a full-length production covering start to finish, available here on my blog as well as on YouTube and TikTok. Your comments on those platforms will get responded to quickest, and hope this sort of project is interesting to you. Needless to say, this is a mashup of products from dozens of suppliers, and several I’m ecstatic to represent as TMG. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more!
